AMD Threadripper 18% faster than Xeon E5-2697 v4

This puts AMD ahead of Intel's Core i3 CPUs as they nearly cost double the rumored price of entry level Ryzen 3 CPUs. 10,000 market. The biggest challenge for AMD will be that Ryzen 3 CPUs lack integrated graphics, which will drive the cost up for anyone choosing one of these CPUs over an Intel Core i3. Obviously theses type of specs come with a hefty price tag.

At the more modest end of the spectrum (if you can call it that) the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X costs $400 less than Intel's Core i9-7920X, and $600 less than the Core i9-7940X. At the top-end, the $999 Threadripper 1950X steps things up a notch with 16 cores and 32 threads, with a 3.4 GHz base clock and a 4.0 GHz boost. Rather than the "universal" AM4 socket, which is used for mainstream Ryzen and Zen-based APU products, the Naples-based Threadrippers require a motherboard with the new TR4 socket. (AMD) including, but not limited to, the timing, pricing, features, functionality, availability, expectations, performance, and benefits of AMD's Ryzen™ 3 and AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ products, which are made pursuant to the Safe Harbor provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. The 1920X, which costs $799, cuts the cores to 12 (and threads to 24), but gains 100MHz on the 1950X's stock clock. Both Threadripper processors will have higher base frequencies, partially offsetting some of Intel's IPC advantage.

If you don't already know, the Threadripper 1950X is the highest end processor in its series and comes with 16 cores and 32 threads along with a base clock speed of 3.4 GHz and a boost speed of 4.0 GHz. The Ryzen 3 1300X weighs in with four cores and four threads with a 3.5/3.7GHz base/boost, while the Ryzen 3 1200 features the same core/thread count at 3.1/3.4GHz.

AMD's announcement video didn't offer much in the way of hard numbers, but it did include a simple Cinebench test versus the i9-7900X. Meanwhile, the AMD fell low in overall PC gaming performance than the Intel's CPU. The Ryzen 3 1200 is a four core, four thread chip running at 3.1 to 3.4GHz.
