I won't moan if Man United don't sign another player — Jose Mourinho

Manchester United are in talks to re-sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the second half of the season, says manager Jose Mourinho.

The Red Devils coach has confirmed United are in talks with Ibrahimovic about signing a new deal once he is fully fit.

"Zlatan is injured and needs time to recover", Mourinho said on Friday.

Ibrahimovic was soon released by the Red Devils at the end of the season, but United offered a generous gesture by providing him complete access to the club's training facilities. Inter's refusal to listen to offers below their £48m valuation of their player has prevented any deal from being struck, with Gareth Bale not interested in a move to Old Trafford despite the club's long-standing interest in the Real Madrid star.

Either way, Mourinho felt the need to invest in the striker position, which is fair enough considering the departures of Zlatan and Rooney, and Lukaku was brought in.

United begin their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday.

"I understand the reality of the market, of the numbers, and I also understand that my club, by doing 75 per cent of what I initially asked for, I think the club did very well".

It may be recalled here that United have already bolstered their squad with the addition of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof. "I'm not a difficult person to work with, in spite of it looking different sometimes. I'm happy with the effort the club did and I'm happy they managed to do 75 percent of the work before the Premier League starts".

"For the record I don't think Danny will go his a sensational player but not great to do what has done with this interview as been told to!" "My teams always had the goalscorer - the guy that scores more goals - but then we had the winger that scored 15 goals, the midfield player that scored 10 goals and we had the central defender that scored five goals". And if we consider players like Alvaro Morata cost nearly €100 million, the value on signing Ibrahimovic for free makes him even better. "But we have players and if we cannot strengthen the team in these areas, we have players that we trust".
