Amber Alert issued for Richardson toddler

Authorities have issued an amber warning.

"If our child was missing, if we didn't find her, I would be panicked within a minute", Underwood, a mother of four, said.

The little girl has not been located. Police said she was extremely malnourished when the family took her in so it wasn't uncommon for her to stay up late to eat to try and increase her weight.

Mr Mathews at one point told investigators that coyotes have been seen in the alley, but investigators say there's no indication one may have dragged the girl away. In spite of the darkness, her father said he was disciplining his child over the milk she refused to drink.

By then, he contends that his daughter was gone, several news organizations have reported.

Police said Sherin suffers from development issues may not be able to communicate with people if found. RPD investigators are actively working with several outside law enforcement agencies and specialized groups.

Richardson police said they weren't called to the home until five hours after the toddler vanished. They also collected security footage from around the area and electronics to process for potential evidence, DMN reported.

Her father, Wesley Mathews, 37, is now behind bars, facing child endangerment charges.

Wesley Mathews, Sherin's father, posted $250,000 bond and was released from Richardson City Jail on Monday morning.

Sherin Mathews is three years old, three feet tall, and she weighs just 22 pounds.

The disappearance of a three-year-old girl in Richardson could have started as punishment for not drinking her milk. She has limited verbal communication skills.

She is described as Asian and was last seen wearing a pink top, black pajama bottoms and pink flip flops.
